Annette & Nikita – Wedding Celebration!

Nikita
This doe-eyed intern has recently graduated. This kind, introverted and sometimes stupidly stubborn brown eyed girl with some OCD tendencies is about to have her world ‘All shook up.’ She is daring and always ready for an adventure. She is extremely loyal and is willing to forgive most things. She will always be there to hold your hair if you have food poisoning even though her worst nightmare is seeing someone get sick. She loves to be held and has a truly electrifying laugh that most of you are fortunate enough to not have ever experienced.

Annette
This one has a split personality. Dr Venter, who is all work and no play and can be a big grump. She often makes a horrible first impression and meets many of the boxes for autism. Annette aka ‘Darling’ who appears after some patience, can grow on you with her kindness, willingness to give you everything if you need it. She is truthful to a fault sometimes and didn’t know the meaning of Love. You just need to be able to handle her ‘Dad jokes’ which she finds funny 100% of the time.

The Plot for this season

The first meeting of these two unfortunately coincides when Annette was postcall from an extremely busy Easter weekend and it was memorable to say the least. Picture it! She was sporting some adidas shorts (Which she still owns) and a pink Lilo and Stich scrub top and the innocent intern walks in hoping for a friendly face in the midst of a daunting upcoming paediatric rotation.

These two unlikely characters who had a very memorable meeting will go through many hellish nightshifts together. They will save many lives and lose some, but they will both learn a lot about themselves and each other. An unfathomable friendship will develop during their time together in the paediatric department of Kimberley Hospital.

Once Nikita leaves the department one would expect the friendship to fizzle out without the adrenaline and stress of those tough calls and all the stories. This was not the case and the friendship continued to grow outside of the scope of work.

Many adventures are had skydiving, shark cage diving, river-rafting and a week of intense camping in the Kgalaghadi with early mornings, intense heat, many gin and tonics. This trip was filled witha lot of laughs, thousands of photos and intense chess matches.

Their friendship was stronger than ever and then… Annette realises her long-term goal of successfully immigrating and leaves.

The distance was proved to be incapable of dissolving their friendship. All we can say is thank you to Irelands unlimited data and Whatsapp video calls. Nikita proved to be the most loyal friend and helped Annette immeasurably to adjust to the new environment.

Many flights and many more phone calls with some stumbles later these two finally realise that the friendship has become more than that and that they are soulmates. It was not what any of these two or their families ever expected but these two will discover that Love has no limits, label or gender.

We know this season might not have been the most dramatic to watch, but it was the best season of these two lives thus far.

On 15/12/2025 the next season will start for these two and we cordially invite you to the premiere.
